Cinnamyl cinnamate or cinnamyl ester of cinnamic acid, also known as styracin, C18H1602, is found in storax, also in the oils of hyacinth, xanthorrhoea resin, Peru balsam, and Honduras balsam. You can find it in the market mostly in white to pale yellow crystal with a floral aroma. It immiscible with water and glycerol, dissolved in the organic solvents, such as ethyl alcohol (1:20), diethyl ether and benzene. Someone also call it as cinnamic acid cinnamyl ester, 3-phenylprop-2-en-1-yl 3-phenylprop-2-enoate and (2E)-3-phenylprop-2-en-1-yl (2E)-3-phenylprop-2-enoate. Cinnamyl cinnamate is obtained by long-term reaction of ethanol and cinnamaldehyde in anhydrous diethyl ether. It also can be got from styrax, Lauric acid, and Cinnamyl esterification.
